Georgia Blankson
Georgia Blankson 18, singer/songwriter from Brighton’s musical journey is only just beginning as she allures us with her soulful vocals, incorporating elements of jazz with a fresh but timeless quality.
With versatility she and her keys player Finn Grassie, perform Jazz and Soul Classics around Brighton, along with performing original music that remains genreless.
Blankson began performing at the age of 12 when she started at Musical Theatre School BRICTT, formerly known as Bird Studio’s, where she attended for 5 years.
She fell in love and was inspired by Musicals such as Dreamgirls and Hairspray which she quotes were her “wake up call” to finding her voice, developing her passion for music; you can definitely feel her musical theatre background in her performances as she commands the stage and tells a story.
She was later given the experience of her first gig at Cafe Plenty in Brighton, where she was approached by a signed reggae artist who was looking for a backing vocalist to accompany him at a festival in Bristol called Valley Fest, she took the opportunity to cut her teeth as a performing artist to a larger audience and enjoyed every second!.
She then began to promote herself via Instagram by posting weekly covers, this opened up her opportunities even more to which she was approached by venues in Brighton where she was asked to perform.
Blankson then developed a love for poetry which then inspired her to write music of her own.
She is currently studying at Northbrook College MET where she studies songwriting and is in the process of writing an EP which she hopes to finish at the end of her Academic and Creative year.
