UNIT 8 PROPOSAL
RATIONALE
I have been singing properly for 2 years. I started with singing musical theatre, as I went to a drama school and participated in shows such as Annie, We Will Rock You and Seussical the musical. I then took a liking to the a Show called Dream girls which I went to see in the WestEnd and tried singing my favourite song from it called ‘And i'm Telling You’ and that is how I found out I had quite a powerful Belt and I really surprised myself because i didn't know i had it in me. From then on I took a passion to music and singing and really wanted to develop my vocal chords, I started going to vocal coaching and setting myself goals. I then came away from the musical theatre side abit and started to perform at gigs, my 1st proper gig was at Cafe Plenty in brighton with my Vocal Coach. I performed 3 very different songs. As a challenge my vocal coach gave me a reggae song, a ballad, and a lowkey heavy metal song so I could build my vocal versatility which gave me  a path way to really explore my voice and build my vocal range, I then experimented with Rock and Pop but soon realised my voice was most comfortable in Soul/R&B/Neo Soul since then had some amazing opportunities such as performing BV’s at a festival called Valley Fest for a reggae who wanted Soul/Gospel twist to his set and Gigging around Brighton which has really built my confidence and is helping me find myself as an artist.
PROJECT CONCEPT
I am going to be talking about how I wrote the topline melody and mixed my vocals for a collaboration of a soul/rnb track with a producer called NewFoundJungle who wants to make an EP by the end of the year. I felt the vocals were not mixed to there best ability so I am going to be taking the track and experimenting with different reverbs and delays to see how i can bring the best out of my vocals. I will be talking about the ideas and references/Inspirations for the track and what I want to take away from this experience as an artist finding their sound.

I then will be working on an original song with my keys player and performing the song at the concorde gig on the June 1st and the Komedia gig on June 11th 2019, the aim for this track will be a poetic soul/rnb raw vocal and keys track. If we have time I would like to record a demo track that we can refer to in the future when taking the song to the studio and adding Production. I will be taking videos and voice memos of rehearsals. (future me ) - I will be recording my process of breath as I have gigs that I would like to test it out at to see the reaction I get from the audience.
